SEMINAL HEX

Hangover profundity. Bad wisdom. Crooked Lens. Mean Jokes. Baby Beer Bellies. On Psychedelics. On and On. Seminal Hex is the product of idle time and gestural musings, with work by Philip Nynkowski, Hugh Alexander Scott-Douglas, Liam Crockard and Ben Schumacher. While their modes of work may vary from photography to photocopy art, from surreal illustration to conceptual sculpture, the work itself speaks to something universal and immediate. Though, like a high school boys club who just trashed the locker room, none of them are prepared to say exactly what that is.

HUGH ALEXANDER SCOTT-DOUGLAS

Forever Young. Disillusioned and Discontent. A lot to say and nothing much to complain about. Terror with the ism. The din in dinner wear. Time spent wasted. Wasted time spent. The necessary evil. Still can't get no dissatisfaction. Bored now but not later. Got older then didn't. Out laws with your laws. Like Des Esseintes but with whips and chains and bats and black leather and latex. Get high modernity. Undeath of the author. Cops for shields, shields for cops. Moderately risky business. Born again punk. What do you suppose Ferris was doing on his day on?

Scott-Douglas was born in 1988 in Cambridge England. He is currently completing his BFA at the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto, Canada. He has had group and solo exhibits at galleries such as The Pratt Institute (New York City), Ottawa Art Gallery (Ottawa), Studio Gallery (Toronto), Cube Gallery (Ottawa), The Stables Studio (Ottawa), and Shanghai Resturant (Ottawa). He currently resides in Toronto, Canada.
